Tomorrow: Heitkamp (@SenatorHeitkamp) to Host Her First Twitter Town Hall to Discuss Education with North Dakotans
Questions can be submitted using #AskHeidiH
Washington, DC – U.S. Senator Heidi Heitkamp (@SenatorHeitkamp) will host a Twitter Town Hall on Thursday, August 1, starting at 10:45 a.m. CT.
“I am looking forward to a great discussion about education with folks on Twitter,” said Heitkamp. “This is an opportunity for me to hear directly from North Dakotans about what we can do to improve education – from early childhood education all the way through college. In addition to in-person meetings, phone calls, emails and letters, Twitter is another way for me to connect and hear from everyone back home. I hope to hear from as many North Dakotans as possible.”
Improving the country’s education system is one of Heitkamp’s top policy goals. This week, Heitkamp helped pass a bipartisan student loan bill that allows students to take advantage of historically low interest rates, locks the rate in for the life of the loan and caps future rates. Heitkamp also wrote legislation to assist individuals saddled with costly, private student loans repay. An ardent supporter of early childhood education, Heitkamp continually pushes for increased Head Start funding.
Starting today, anyone following @SenatorHeitkamp on Twitter can begin submitting questions about education issues by including #AskHeidiH with their tweet.
How it works:
– Log on to www.Twitter.com today through the end of the town hall on Thursday.
– Post a tweet with a question about education, followed by your hometown and #AskHeidiH. For example: What can we do to address existing student loan debt? Casselton #AskHeidiH
– Senator Heitkamp will reply to as many tweets as possible regarding education.
